About Stingers
The athletic teams that represent Concordia University in Montreal, Quebec, Canada are known as the Concordia Stingers. In Canadian Interuniversity Sport, specifically in the Réseau du sport étudiant du Québec (RSEQ), they compete against other schools. Quebec Student Sports Network in French). When Loyola College and Sir George Williams University merged to form Concordia University in 1974, Stingers took over for the Sir George Williams Georgians and Loyola Warriors. Football, men's and women's soccer, men's and women's rugby, wrestling, men's and women's hockey, and men's and women's basketball are the university's ten varsity sports. The Concordia football team is currently coached by Brad Collinson and plays home games at the Concordia Stadium. They appeared in one Vanier Cup national championship in 1998, but lost to the Saskatchewan Huskies.
