Rogue Machine Theatre aims to build students confidence in their reading, writing, and story-telling abilities by assisting them in creating their own one of a kind personal and fictional stories for the stage. This year, Rogue Machine Theatre has had the best theater season of any local company, no matter how big or small. For the past six years, the program has been offered each summer at a number of Boys & Girls Clubs. The Sylvia and Firestone Trust, Bank of America, and the California Arts Council all contributed to its funding. Their goal is to teach young people, most of whom come from underserved LMI households, the art of playwriting and storytelling through fun and constructive reading, writing, and theater exercises that improve reading comprehension and writing skills while also improving confidence, problem-solving skills, artistic and team-building abilities, and critical thinking skills.
