About Civic Winery
A fully operational winery that specializes in amphora fermentation, a barrel storage area that also serves as an event space, and a wine bar and bottle shop that specializes in natural wines from around the world make up their urban winery project. The restaurant Lion & Owl, which also shares the same space, offers a creative brunch and supper menu "for the ferocious and the wise." The word Civic Winery is derived from the Latin words "civis," which means "citizen," and "civitas," which refers to the social body that binds together members of a community. They want to honor Eugene's location in this ecosystem as well as the Willamette Valley's long history of agriculture. Their emphasis is on grape production and processing that is both organic and biodynamic. For the manufacturing of wine, Civic Winery utilize ceramic amphora made in Oregon.
