About Fore Family Vineyards
Jim Fore was drawing submarine piping schematics as an engineer draftsman at the Mare Island Naval Shipyard in Vallejo, California, around 1994. He had the option of changing his career path when they said the shipyard would be closing or moving to Washington to work at their shipyard. For his next career move, Jim was certain he wanted to be closer to the land. Considerations included farming chickens in Ohio, catfish and cucumbers in Lodi, or staying close to Napa, where he grew up, and cultivating wine vines. He already enjoyed making wine at home with two close friends, which was fortunate for them. Fore Family Vineyards would buy second crops from Fore Family Vineyards, then create the wine in the garage winery of one of his neighbors and winemaking partners. On this land, they currently cultivate grapes such as Grenache Blanc, Syrah, Mourvedre, Grenache Noir, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Zinfandel on 17 acres.
