About Seaside Grown
The ideal environment for a legacy to be created consists of warm sand, salty air, and the farmer. The first commercial tomato farm was established on Seaside Grown in 1903 by their great, great grandpa, Gus Sanders, on a charming small peninsula that was located across the sound from Hilton Head Island. He found that tomatoes thrive on soil that is close to the water, surrounded by sand, and surrounded by the sea. Seaside Grown transporting more than 24 million pounds of fresh tomatoes up and down the East Coast in only the month of June, his family has carried on with his legacy for six generations.
