About Kaufman and Company
In the area of magic, Richard J. Kaufman is a prolific writer, publisher, illustrator, and editor. He was born in New York City in 1958, and at the age of five, his uncle Alan Soffin sent him several novelty items from the S. S. Adams company, sparking his interest in magic. Then, a gift of multiple magic books was given. The journalist, photographer, and fashion designer Elizabeth O'Keefe, now Elizabeth Kaufman, was Richard's complete opposite and the love of his life when they were united in marriage in 2000. They have worked together every day since 2002 to create Genii, the Conjuror's magazine, and other Kaufman and Company, including the acclaimed Tenyoism, winner of the Allan Slaight Award. Along with designing this website, Elizabeth also edits and produces the DVDs that go along with Kaufman and Company.
