In the area of magic, Richard J. Kaufman is a prolific writer, publisher, illustrator, and editor. He was born in New York City in 1958, and at the age of five, his uncle Alan Soffin sent him several novelty items from the S. S. Adams company, sparking his interest in magic. The journalist, photographer, and fashion designer Elizabeth O'Keefe, now Elizabeth Kaufman, was Richard's complete opposite and the love of his life when they were united in marriage in 2000.
