About Globe Gazette
By the time Lee Enterprises acquired the newspaper in 1925, it had been known as the Republican, the Express, the Express-Republican, the Freeman, the Western Democrat, the Herald, the Times-Herald, the Gazette, and the Globe. Globe Gazette began as a weekly newspaper on July 17, 1858, and was named after Cerro Gordo County. Until 1977, the newspaper published its Saturday edition in the morning, with afternoon editions appearing Monday through Saturday. All publications adopted a morning schedule in 1981. In 1985, Globe Gazette began publication. Detailing centers around nearby news across a nine-province inclusion region and secondary school sports in 16 school districts. Conclusions and publications distributed by the paper address a significant gathering for banter on neighborhood issues.
