About Jamestown Sun
Jamestown Sun is a daily newspaper published in North Dakota's Jamestown. The Sun, which has a small circulation in southeast North Dakota and serves as the official newspaper of Stutsman County, North Dakota, Percy Hansen and Bryon Hansen purchased the Jamestown Alert in 1925 from William Kellogg. The Alert's history began in July 1878, and Kellogg had been the owner of the newspaper since 1886. The Hansens renamed it Jamestown Sun, and Byron was in charge of publishing it. The paper was sold to the American Publishing Company, which later became Hollinger International, in 1988 by Byron's son Gordon, who had taken over as publisher. They sold it in 2000 to the ongoing proprietor, Gathering Communications. The paper moved from night distribution to a morning release in 1992.
