About WWAYTV3
WWAYTV3 endorsed on as the subsequent TV slot in Wilmington on October 30, 1964. Cape Fear Telecasting, a group of Wilmington-area businessmen, owned the station. Since day one, WWAYTV3 has been an ABC. The original location of the station was on the 10th floor of the Murchison Building in downtown Wilmington. From there, viewers could take in stunning views of the city, Brunswick County, and the Battleship North Carolina that was just across the Cape Fear River. The station moved to a new building on Front Street a few blocks north of downtown in late 1969. It was the first piece of a larger project to redevelop the north end of downtown. They relocated once more in 2018, this time to Magnolia Greens in Leland, close to them 17. The counties of New Hanover, Brunswick, Bladen, Columbus, and Pender are all served by them.
