About Cawy
The 1948-founded soda manufacturer Cawy was nationalized in 1959 when communists assumed control of Cuba following the revolution. When the brand was revived in 1962 by two of the company's executives who had immigrated to the United States, it initially offered lemon-lime soda before expanding outside of that cutthroat market by launching Materva, a soda flavored with yerba mate, followed by various tropical flavors. Lemon-lime soda, Materva, Jupia, Champ's Cola, and Quinabeer are examples of Cawy brands. The company's best-selling line is called Jupia. The business also sells Watermelon, Rica Malt Tonic, and Rica Orange Mandarin in addition to its other beverages.
