Bissell Maple Farm and their family moved to Ohio from Connecticut in the 1830s to help establish the Western Reserve. Dahlias, an apple orchard, and a dairy were all part of the original family farm; The syrup was only for friends and family. Bissell Maple Farm began building their maple business. After that, their family farm grew until one morning, when their mother stepped onto the porch wearing a bathrobe to be greeted by a busload of maple-lover tourists eager to tour the property. They kindly informed their son that it was time to leave because their business had grown too big for their farm. They established their new brand when they relocated to a separate Rock Creek business location on Higley Road.
