Selby Winery founded in 1994. Dr. Selby was a hero of the Vietnam War, a marble sculptor, and a world-renowned spine surgeon who traveled internationally, primarily to Europe. He and Susie developed an affinity for old-world wines through these trips, beginning with the first Selby Chardonnay and Pinot Noir vintages. As a tasting room manager, forklift driver, and eventually Assistant Winemaker at a larger winery while still producing Selby Wines, Susie gained her knowledge of winemaking through hands-on apprenticeship. Dave and his wife Nancy, who lived in Dallas, traveled frequently to Wine Country prior to his sudden death in 1997 to taste blends with Susie and enjoy the region's cuisine and wines. Susie made the decision after Dave's death to carry on Selby's dream on her own, despite a lot of hard work and difficulties. She still does not have any investors or partners today. Selby Winery has won numerous accolades and produced more than sixteen distinct varieties.
