Brandeis University Press was a member of the University Press of New England consortium when it was established 50 years ago in 1971. They became a separate entity in January 2019, collaborating with the University of Chicago Press on sales, marketing, and distribution. The UPNE backlist was purchased by the University Press in January 2021. The Press is tasked with expanding its vibrant backlist of more than 700 titles into a wide range of subject areas in order to represent the university's interests and investigate the wider world in which it is situated. The humanities, social sciences, natural history, and environmental fields are all represented in their publishing program. Additionally, the Press is dedicated to publishing compelling and novel approaches to the global study of the Jewish experience. Books from the University Press are available in ebook, softcover, and hardcover formats. Brandeis University Press Institutional Repository also provides open access to selected and backlist titles.
