About Soviet Propaganda Posters
Soviet Propaganda Posters initially debuted in Russia during the Proletarian Revolution, when they presented Communist Party slogans to the masses and urged workers and peasants to struggle for freedom and justice. The image of a Red Army soldier, with plumes of black smoke rising from the factory smokestacks in the backdrop, questioning a Russian worker directly about his commitment to the defense of the October Revolution, became an iconic piece of Soviet propaganda. During the October Revolution and ensuing Civil War, posters played a critical role. Soviet Propaganda Posters have always moved with the times. They portrayed role models for future generations of Soviet workers and soldiers, exposed foreign warmongers, and battled for world peace.
