About J. Grant Brittain Photos
In 1979, when J. Grant Brittain Photos first began working there as a worker bee and later as the pro shop manager, they began taking pictures there. They had observed the best photographers of the 1970s pass by the skatepark while accompanied by a variety of professional skaters, and they had enjoyed their work in the publications months after they had taken the photographs. In February 1979, they took their roommate's camera, and it was the beginning of their obsession with photography. For the following few years, J. Grant Brittain Photos refined their photographing talents by taking pictures of their pals soaring out of the cement bowls. Many of the images you see in their shop were featured on the covers of Transworld Skateboarding Magazine during the 20 years they spent as one of the magazine's co-founders, starting in 1983.
