John Hall created the Bushman Ukulele brand in January 1996. John's affection for the harmonica began when he was 5 years of age and his granddad gave him one. He was able to play the instrument at church and at family get-togethers because his family enjoyed music. He heard a harmonica player wailing the blues as he passed the Slippery Noodle in Indianapolis on a summer evening in 1990. It was love at first sound! His enthusiasm for the industry was fueled by his ever-increasing love of music, which ultimately led him to establish the Bean Blossom Blues Fest in 1999. Hall managed the festival for 15 years, during which time he gained extensive experience working with world-class harmonica players. This experience taught him what harmonica players wanted and needed from their instruments, which shaped Bushman Harmonicas' future. The first Bushman Ukulele harmonica was called the Soul's Voice. The Soul's Voice, which was released in April 2000 and was made in Klingenthal, Germany, was a high-quality harmonica that helped establish Bushman as a reputable brand.
