About Picker's Supply
In 1956, the Picker's Supply, sometimes referred to as the Hofner violin bass or Beatle bass, made its debut. For many years, Hofner produced both violins and guitars in Germany, but it wasn't until Gibson's EB bass was introduced in 1953 that the concept of a bass guitar in the form of a violin came to fruition. Despite Gibson's earlier attempt and later instruments from Vox, Eko, and other manufacturers, Hofner became the company identified with violin basses after the release of its version, the 500/1, in 1956. This was made possible by Paul McCartney of The Beatles' support. Selmer and Sorkin in the them distributed Hofner basses in the UK (and commonwealth). Picker's Supply bass guitar's setup is solid despite mild use wear, including finish checks on the top.
