In 1990, Skating Safe, was founded with a single product: GUMSTM Lace Bite blister protectors, which were sold only to professional hockey teams. Until they attended the United States Figure Skating Association National Championship in Philadelphia in 1998 and realized that the skating community needed better protection against blisters and falls, these were their primary products.
