About Scafuri Bakery
Scafuri Bakery has a rich family ancestry beginning in Calabria, Italy. Their patriarch, Luigi Safari moved to Chicago in 1901 with his significant other, Carmella, his first kid, Frances, his dad, Giovanni, and his adoration for Italian bread kitchen. In 1904, Luigi assembled an enduring accolade for his local culture – Scafuri Bakery. The pastry shop was a prompt achievement and turned into a basic piece of a network, furnishing the neighborhood with its day-by-day bread. Through the pastry shop, the family encountered the good and bad times of American history. During the Depression, Luigi was known to give out bread to families on Saturdays. Throughout the long-term Luigi, Carmella, and their seven kids all added to a local custom that would last into the following century. In May of 2013 the bread kitchen opened with family pictures on the divider and exemplary plans loading the racks.
