About Orchard House Granville
Orchard House Granville has been home to local prominent members of the granville community for more than 200 years. In an effort to settle the area, regiments were given land in Licking County at the end of the Revolutionary War. This initial parcel included more than 4, 000 acres, which included Orchard House Granville current 12 acres. The land went through many hands over the next 50 years before being sold to the Licking Land Company and the founders of Granville for farming and a more formal settlement. Job Paige and his family constructed the classic brick Italianate main manor in 1850. Over the next one hundred years, the property was owned by more than fifteen different people. These owners were highlighted by a series of foreclosures and near condemnations, and the property was eventually taken over by the state of Ohio for unpaid taxes. The John Daley Home was established by the state as the first licensed alcoholics' residence in the 1950s.
