About Jim Barry
The Clare Valley in South Australia became a benchmark producer of world-class Riesling thanks to their drive and community spirit, establishing it as one of Australia's best wine regions. Jim Barry comes from a long line. Jim earned the famed Roseworthy Agricultural College's 17th Degree in Oenology in 1947, making him the first qualified winemaker in the Clare Valley. They were a pioneer of Australian table wine after spending 22 years as the winemaker at the Clarevale Cooperative. After that, in 1969, he set up Taylors Wines for the Taylor family. Jim Barry was founded by his wife, Nancy, and his sons, Peter, Mark, and John, contributed to its growth. In 1985, Peter Barry became the managing director. Tom, Sam, and Olivia, Peter's children, are now employed by them as winemakers, business managers, and brand ambassadors, respectively.
