About Jensen's Cafe
The story of Jensen's Cafe first began in rural areas of Fremont, Nebraska after the Great Depression. Alvin Jensen ran a small gas station on Broad Street until he took over the shop across the street. Every five years, to commemorate their Danish tradition, customers receive free aebleskiever (Danish donuts). He had no idea how long and how far this small restaurant could last. In February 1977, the store celebrated its 30th anniversary. Fast forward to the late 1990s in Minneapolis-St. Paul Burnsville, Minnesota, had planned to build his own downtown. Land is purchased, new streets are planned and built, a park vision is in place, and a state-of-the-art performing arts center is being planned. Jensen's Cafe was inspired by 2004 when two veteran restaurant owners, Brian Hehr and Doron Jensen, found it on Burnsville Parkway and Nico Nicollet street corner locations are available.
