The story of Jensen's Cafe first began in rural areas of Fremont, Nebraska after the Great Depression. Alvin Jensen ran a small gas station on Broad Street until he took over the shop across the street. Every five years, to commemorate their Danish tradition, customers receive free aebleskiever (Danish donuts). He had no idea how long and how far this small restaurant could last. In February 1977, the store celebrated its 30th anniversary. Fast forward to the late 1990s in Minneapolis-St. Paul Burnsville, Minnesota, had planned to build his own downtown.
