About Elisabeth Elliot
Elisabeth Elliot was also a well-known author and public speaker. Her life of obedience, timeless teachings, and best-selling books have influenced believers and seekers of the Christian faith for more than fifty years. These were the opening lines of Elliot's daily radio program gateway to Joy for thirteen years: According to the Bible, you are loved forever, and beneath that are the arms of eternal love. Elisabeth Elliot, this is your friend. Elliot's life was centered on Jesus' unending love, and her greatest duty was to educate others about His saving grace. Her costly call led her into Ecuador's Amazonian jungle, where her husband Jim Elliot was one of five missionaries who were speared to death in 1956 while attempting to communicate with Auca/Waodani tribe members. Later, Elisabeth and her young daughter Valerie would return to Auca territory to live with the people who killed her husband and minister to them.
