About Zero Waste Chef
In 2011, Zero Waste Chef stopped using plastic because they was concerned about the problem of plastic pollution on Earth. Check out The Plastic-Free Chef, their daughter's blog, which she started when she was 16. ) The next logical (more like a half-step) was to eliminate all waste. The majority of their trash came from the kitchen prior to their transition because they're not a big consumer (I don't buy things). They started shopping more at the farmer's market, stocking up on staples in bulk grocery stores, and making more food from scratch (I've always done this, but now they're pretty hardcore) to reduce the amount of plastic waste there. Since they eliminated all packaged food, Zero Waste Chef quickly realized that they also eliminated all processed food. In the words of Michael Pollan, "If it's a plant, eat it. " Don't if it was made in a plant.
