When In Brooklyn, New York, when Paul Lombardo was a young child, his family ran a butcher business. He was raised primarily in the meat industry and the retail services sector. Paul had always wanted to run his own company, so in 1971 he and a colleague established the Berk Lombardo packing company. Berk Lombardo Packing business provided custom-cut meats to the neighborhood as a "cash and carry" business in Brooklyn's Fort Greene neighborhood. The business expanded swiftly, and in a matter of years, Paul and his business partner relocated to a bigger building in Brooklyn's Williamsburg neighborhood. Along the way, Paul met Gregg Lombardo, who had experience in the food industry, and the two of them helped the firm expand to the point that it once more required a larger structure.
