Willimantic Brewing Company was founded in 1991 as a small deli in the old Capitol Theater building on Main Street in Willimantic, Connecticut. The lobby and franchise area of the theater are limited to 50 people. Three years later, they exploded at the crack and moved to 877 Avenue, another historic building. There, Willimantic Brewing Company expanded into a full-service restaurant featuring American craft beer and an extensive menu. They also have a plan, they trek along the street to their current granite and limestone 1909 USPS building home again. The building was abandoned by the federal government in 1967 and has been vacant for nearly 30 years. When they are used as a post office, their restaurant is the office of the post office, their bar is the customer lobby, and the private restaurant is the office of the postmaster.
