About Westchester Ballet
They are glad you're here at Westchester Ballet (WBC), one of the country's first regional nonprofit student ballet organizations. The company, which was established in 1950 by renowned dancer and choreographer Iris Merrick and is based in Ossining, New York, is made up of about 100 young dancers, aged 6 to 18, who are chosen each September through open auditions held in Ossining. Since their establishment in the middle of the previous century, the world and the way they engage in culture and entertainment have undergone significant change. Despite this, Westchester Ballet continues to hold fast to its deeply held convictions that there is great value in bringing people together through shared, communal performing arts experiences and that it is imperative to continue preserving and disseminating the knowledge and wisdom of classical ballet.
