About Pikes Peak Or Bust
Since 1937, Pikes Peak Or Bust has been a Colorado Springs tradition that brings the best rodeo talent and action to Pikes Peak Or Bust community while providing healthy entertainment. The Rodeo was founded by Spencer Penrose, an avid sportsman, businessman, and philanthropist. In 1938, he presented the House that Spec built, which was the 10, 000-seat Will Rogers Stadium located next to the Broadmoor Hotel. After his death in 1939, the name was changed to Spencer Penrose Stadium, and the Rodeo continued there under the direction of community leaders who were committed to Penrose's legacy. The Rodeo was held at the 71-acre Pikes Peak Equestrian Center from 1973 to 2001. The Rodeo moved inside to the Colorado Springs World Arena from 2002 to 2004. After purchasing and renovating the Norris Penrose Equestrian Center in 2005, the Rodeo returned outdoors in accordance with tradition.
