More than 800 years ago, a young monk named Myoan Eisai left his native Japan and embarked on a spiritual journey, which brought consciousness and knowledge. Eisai returned to Japan using a new philosophy called "Zen" and some unique tea tree seeds. Using Chen philosophy Myōan Eisai created Rinzai Zen in Japan and became a Zen master Eisai of the Academy. This special tea tree seed is made from these special tea leaves into a green tea powder called matcha. It was given to a learned monk named Myoe shonnin who planted tea tree seeds on a bench near Kyoto.
