Spagalimis first opened in May 1978 on the corner of Colombo and Kilmore Street in Christchurch. Initially, the restaurant had eight tables, seating about 44 people, only seven employees, and takeaway. Due to the consistency and quality of the product, demand increased until they were unable to meet demand during peak periods. So, in May 1991, after thoroughly searching the right place, they opened at 155 Victoria Street, Christchurch (the location is now closed and their new locations are on Salisbury Street and Montreal Ironside House on the corner of the street). Since then, demand for pizza and other products has continued to grow. Spagalimis opened in 1995. This store is located at 374 Riccarton Road, Christchurch.
