Southern Exposure Seed Exchange began in 1982. In 1983, 1,700 catalogs were sent out, and 196 orders were received in the first year. The first catalog is small, with only 65 varieties, but includes some interesting heirlooms such as Tappy's best tomatoes, yellow potato onions, and southern white peas.
