About Sands Of Treasure Island
Around 300 AD, the Timucan Indians established the first permanent settlement on Sands Of Treasure Island Island. After the arrival of the Spaniard Panfilio de Narvaez in 1528, the region gradually saw the arrival of European ancestors. A land boom in St. Petersburg around 1900 resulted in an influx of visitors to the beaches. By first discovering wooden chests on the beach that were said to be full of treasure, several local property owners attempted to increase the sales of properties that were being built. As word of the find spread, the location was dubbed Sands Of Treasure Island Island. A boom in residential and hotel construction started after World War II and continued through the 1950s. In 1947, construction on the Sands resort came to an end.
