About Parking Company of America
In 1963, the sons of Petra and Nico Demos F. Chavez Jr., six native New Mexico brothers, founded Parking Company of America. Chavez is an apple farmer in Pajarito, New Mexico, a small community on the Rio Grande River in southern Albuquerque. As an entrepreneur, he was determined to make his sons more reliable and profitable than farming, because a year of bad weather or a hailstone can ruin their entire year of work. One day, Old Chavez saw a classified ad in the Albuquerque Daily saying that a parking lot in the city was to be rented. Albuquerque Public Library is located here between Fifth and Sixth Streets. Mr. Chavez showed the advertisement to his second youngest son, who soon got the lease and entered Parking Company of America within a few days.
