Oshawa Zoo opened the park on July 29, 1993. Their goal was to create a clean as well as green and friendly mix of exotic and domestic animal interactions! Their enclosures and paddocks were to be made large enough to keep the grass lush and green throughout the season! They have set out to exceed the standards of the National Zoo in terms of size. Children and animals will be able to interact and be fed and petted through the enclosures. Children will be able to grow with their friends in the animal world, growing with them as they bottle feed the orphans until these animals have babies of their own! Oshawa Zoo tries to rescue every baby they find that has been abandoned or is too weak to feed. They have had some great success in this area. Many of the tame animals you still see in zoos started life in the cold winter drying out in front of the fireplace.
