About Murrietaswell
One of the first wineries in California, Murrietaswell, has been cultivating grapes since the nineteenth century. Murrietaswell vineyard was established using cuttings from the renowned French Chateau d'Yquem and Chateau Margaux vineyards, and it is still producing fruit of the finest caliber. They take great pride in their history, and they think that their wines accurately capture the spirit of the places they adore. Louis Mel and their wife bought the property after falling in love with the estate. Using cuttings from the renowned Chateau d'Yquem and Chateau Margaux, they planted a vineyard and constructed a gravity flow winery into the hillside. Today, descendants of those first vines are still growing on their estate, and the old gravity flow winery houses their tasting area.
