They Montagave found themselves gathered around a table with bottles of Champagne, Bordeaux, Port, Sauternes, Whiskey, and Tequila after one of their lengthy family dinners. They came up with the concept for a co-created sipping Tequila there, one that celebrated handmade skill while also going beyond the bounds of barrel-aging custom. The concept seduced them into experimenting over the following months. Montagave matured a single estate valley tequila for their initial batch for six months in French Oak Grand Cru Cabernet Sauvignon wine barrels. The outcome was a Tequila with a stunning color and a flavor profile that was incredibly complex. They bottled the first batch and shared it with friends and family at meals, parties, and weddings because of its amazing flavor and unusual color.
