Lovezzola's began his career in the pizza industry in June 1969 while managing Badinos Pizza on Washington Street in Natick, Massachusetts. Paul purchased Badinos Pizza and rebranded it as Padinos just three short months into his management position. He downsized and moved to South Main Street in Natick, Massachusetts, in response to rising overhead costs. Paul and Juanita moved the family to Savannah after six long years of working two jobs to pay off debt. They had no intention of staying in the pizza business when they arrived. Paul's father-in-law told him about a job opening at the Pooler Shopping Center after he had been looking for a job for two months without success. Paul and Juanita opened Lovezzola's in January 1978 because they had no other options. They started building a complete sit-down restaurant, which Pooler lacked at the time, after five successful years.
