About Kewadin
In 1984, the board of directors voted to open the tribe's most successful business the Kevadin Casino. The rapid success of Kewadin provided funds for the business holding of the tribe to expand from one casino to five casinos and obtained the ownership of 15 non-gaming companies. In 2005, these companies employed nearly 2,000 people, making the tribe the largest employer on the upper peninsula. Their long-term goal is self-sufficiency. The income from tribal casinos and non-gaming industries is used to improve their communities to provide better medical care, housing and more educational opportunities. Kewadin continue to build and nurture strong families, communities and nations. They are always looking for new and exciting ways to enable them to carry on these trends and traditions to the next generation. They continue to rejuvenate and promote their culture and traditional values as an Anishnaberg nation.
