In 1897 Harry saw a huge opportunity to open a restaurant in Atlantic City and serve the best seafood in a clean and comfortable and friendly atmosphere! So he opened Dock's Oyster House, with 60 seats and no liquor license to a very high standard. They quickly became a favorite with locals and tourists alike and there was a regular line out the door on Atlantic Avenue! Harry's vision has been carried on by four generations of Dockerty's and they share his commitment to quality and service. This commitment has sustained Doc's through two world wars and the Great Depression as well as the decline and rebirth of Atlantic City! Fifteen years later the third generation purchased their first liquor license, expanded the restaurant again and installed a completely modern kitchen. Another decade added a small cocktail lounge, and in 2001 the third and fourth generation Dock's Oyster House remodeled the restaurant and bar adding a raw bar that quickly became a local hotspot.
