About Cornelius
The Grand Central establishment's cornelius restaurant is named in honor of the tenacious American commercial tycoon Cornelius Vanderbilt. Known as "the Commodore," Vanderbilt rose from modest beginnings to become a titan of the railroad and shipping industries. He is best known for his tenacity and aggressive business strategies. Vanderbilt played a significant role in the construction of Grand Central Depot, the forerunner to Grand Central Terminal, which opened in 1871. His vision for midtown Manhattan is still very much alive and well in this illustrious location. The cuisine at cornelius gives classic dishes a contemporary spin while drawing culinary inspiration from the exquisite flavours of the Golden Era. In the splendor of Grand Central Station, Cornelius provides farm-to-table cuisine that is influenced by wine and made with locally sourced ingredients. All parties are strongly encouraged to make reservations.
