Formerly known as KP's, Castaways Resort was founded in 1992 as a small clifftop cafe/restaurant until 2002. In 2002, Gavin&Raewyn Shine purchased KP's and did a major renovation of the restaurant before reopening it to the public at Castaways, a wedding, conference and dining location. Over the next three years, fifteen two-bedroom wooden houses were built on a hill above the main venue to accommodate the rapidly growing wedding and conference business.
