About Berlin
Berlin is a town in the United States of America's Rensselaer County. At the 2010 census, 1, 880 people lived there. Although natives pronounce the name with an accent on the first syllable, it is named after, Germany. The town of Berlin is often pronounced with an emphasis on the first half of its name because it is on the county's eastern border. Around 1765, the town was first settled. It was formed from the German-named New York town of Petersburgh in 1806 and given the name own. Ten people, including the truck driver, were killed when a semi-truck carrying 7000 gallons of propane collided with them on July 25, 1962, and exploded in the city.
