Since 2008, 689 Cellars has been in business. Curtis McBride had worked in the wine industry for a long time, marketing and selling wines all over the world. Kent Rasmussen, his friend and winemaker, had worked in the industry for a long time, making exceptional California wines. Curtis and Kent decided, after numerous trips to the Far East, that they could use elements of Asian numerology to express their ideal winery. In Asian culture the numbers SIX EIGHT and NINE are viewed as fortunate or favorable numbers. They discovered this to be true while traveling through the Far East. In honor of these numbers and the positive forces they represent, they named their winery after them. 689 Cellars wines are a representation of distinct components coming together to form a balanced and harmonious whole, much like the interwoven numbers in their logo.
