Katrina Petryshyn, the owner of The Makers Keep, saw a need for something more after participating in numerous markets and pop-up events over the years. Petryshyn has a background in the design and manufacturing of jewelry. She discovered a Cape Town co-op store while living in South Africa, which inspired her desire to own her own store; but not any store at all. Katrina's objective was to provide local businesses with a space to display their products in a setting that resembled a market. She had an undeniable passion for handmade and local goods. She wanted the store to be a place where people could connect and be nurtured as well as a place where great finds could be purchased, just like at a market.
