In 2003, Karim Haddad, a bladesmith, established Tharwa Valley Forge. Karim received his training from Thomas Gerner, Australia's first Master Bladesmith, in the early 1990s. He then went on to use his experience as a professional educator to teach a lot of people how to make knives. Karim and his staff have taught hundreds of students how to make high-quality knives and tools since they opened. The instructors bring a diverse backgrounds to the classes. They are chosen for their people skills as well as their technical skills. Their teachers are more likely to successfully introduce students to their art and achieve excellent results if they are enthusiastic, patient, flexible, and encouraging.
