Star Wine was established in 1993 and is owned and operated by "Two Allen" Alan Short and Alan Glass. They met while dating their respective wives, Suzanne and Beth, who have been friends since elementary school. As their friendship deepened, so did their mutual interest in wine. Many weekends are spent tasting and enjoying wines from all over the world and their fantasy of owning a retail wine shop became a reality. The first branch of Star Wine, covering an area of 2500 square meters. The one-foot-tall store at Stop & Shop Plaza in Monroe quickly fell out of favor. As the community has grown, so has the group. In November 2002, it proudly launched a new hotel covering an area of 10,000 square meters. It is one of the largest discount wine and liquor stores in New York State.
