About Sojo
Sojo A downtown community in Washington DC, south of the Columbia Highlands. The community started at Trinity Evangelical Theological School in Deerfield, Illinois, and in the early 1970s, some students began to meet to discuss the relationship between their beliefs and political issues, especially the Vietnam War. In 1971, Sojo decided to create a publication to express their beliefs and test whether other believers have similar beliefs. Then came a publication dedicated to social justice and peace: The Post-America. In the fall of 1975, this fledgling community moved to Washington, D.C., and the community and magazine were named sojourners. The biblical metaphor "hermit" sees God's people as pilgrims, who are fully present in the world but are committed to a different order.
