Bay Nature connects people in the San Francisco Bay Area to their natural world and inspires people to solve natural problems. Their vision is that all people have an intimate relationship with their natural world. They are an independent non-profit publication and website with a vision for all to have a close relationship with nature. Their writers, photographers and artists cover science and nature as well as conservation and entertainment. In addition to publishing a magazine and website, Bay Nature's Institute recognizes an environmental activist, an environmental educator, a community hero and a budding young environmentalist each year at their annual Local Hero Awards contributions of the activists.
