Rollerblade is a brand of inline skates belonging to Nordica, part of the Tecnica group of Giavera del Montello, in Treviso, Italy. Scott Olson and Brennan Olson founded the company in Minneapolis as an innovative sport of Ole; when they sold the company, she became Rollerblade, Inc. and changed hands over time between Nordica, the Benetton Group and Tecnica. Although Roces, which has been well established for many years, was the first to manufacture roller skates online in 1981, its distribution was limited to Italy and Central Europe in the early years. In the early years following the development of Rollerblade, Rollerblade, Inc. was the only online skate manufacturer to be distributed around the world. This allowed Rollerblade, Inc. to capitalize on and capture a huge percentage of the global market share and almost total dominance of the North American market with its aggressive advertising campaigns and online sponsored sports events only.
