Sam, a guy of profound personal faith and conviction, pursued formal art study after graduating from high school after his mother pushed him to do so. As a result of his hard work, he was awarded a full tuition scholarship to study at Berkeley's prestigious College of Arts and Crafts. Sam and his friend Bill Biel founded the company Jonathan & David in the early 1970s to mass-produce his Precious Moments artwork on a series of greeting cards and wall art.
